When did people started to bet on Sports?

Filed under: Gaming + Bets, Sports + More, World Of Gambling — admin @ 11:38 am

Ever since the early 19th century, people have already been betting on sports, games or any kind of competition. Whenever there is someone playing sports or any kind of games out there, there sure is somebody else who is already saying, “I bet Johnny will win over Harry…” or “I’ll give you ten bucks when the man in the red overcoat wins…”

People have this natural instinct of betting, gambling and just taking all sorts of wins. The history of sports betting actually started from small time to big time nowadays mainly because of many cultural and technological factors.

During 1930s, horse racing has become one of the most popularly known leisure and entertainment of high class and upper societies. Up to now, horse race betting is still popular but it caters to generally almost everyone, no matter what order, race or class they belong. With the online horse betting websites available, gamblers from all over the world could actually enjoy and have quality horse betting online.

Parlay cards, which is used as a type of betting in sports today, also came from pool cards used as late as 1800s. During those times, baseball has become widely popular causing people to bet on their favorite teams. Although the Black Sox Scandal went by and made negatives waves through the public, sports betting and gambling has yet remained to be a living hobby among most of us.

Amazing but true, sports betting could be dated as far as the early times. No one really knows the exact date and time when sports betting was born but one thing’s for sure: it would always be progressing.
