Every time we hear the phone ringing and the person on the other line would be offering products, it is so exasperating that we want to just bang it because of irritation. Especially when you are so busy, that you have to rush to answer it and find out that it is not really an important call. Or when you are expecting a call and they choose the right time to do just that.
We consider them to be a menace and a scam that ruins your day. Some are unauthentic that you want to strangle them to stop from calling you. Other telemarketers are so insensitive that they don’t get it when you tell them to put you on do not call list but still do the exact opposite. You will be disturbed for the next days until you want to go berserk and disconnect or just change your number into a new one.
We may not always understand what these telemarketers are going through. Who really wants this kind of job if you will have to do cold calls and receive unwelcoming response from the other line? It really takes a lot of guts for them to endure everyday’s bad mouthing from the people they are calling. But that is their job, and beggars cannot be choosers. They may want to change status but for the meantime, they are just doing they were asked to do. This job is branded as one of the worst but not for those who are earning money for themselves and their family.
To avoid telemarketers, we have to talk to them and request properly to be taken off the list. Banging the phone will not help, since they will be disposed as hang ups but will still be recycled in their call list. Or report your number in the Do Not Call Registry. Avoid filling out unsecured forms online that will lead to distribution of your information to telemarketing companies. Some telemarketers are rude and stubborn that your natural reaction would just be the same but be patient even though some should not earn it, but try that, they may take sympathy and respect your request to be removed from their list.
