We all know that eyeglasses have been used to meliorate people’s eyesights since the 1400s, but nothing dramatic really happened to the world of sight enhancement, until the mid 1950’s when Contacts were discovered.
Now, new scientific evolutions are allowing the 12 million short- and long-sighted Brits with hope that they might be able to dispense with their eyeglasses or lenses for ever.
It is difficult to wear Contact lenses or even spectacles if you have really dry eyes or struggle to work in a dusty environment. The Ortho K system - Contact lenses that correct short-sightedness while you sleep - might be worth considering. The bespoke Contacts are inserted at night and realigns your cornea to compensate your vision whilst you sleep, so that you wake with perfect vision. The sight rectification generally lasts for the entire day, and sometimes longer: some wearers find they may only need to wear the lenses every other night. Swimmers, rejoice: you can wear them in the pool, too. So, this won’t permanently fix your visual problem, but it may stop it getting worse and it is fast and safe. The technology has been around since the 1960s, but has only recently become affordable.
