VoIP Allows You to Make Internet Calls from Your Phone

Filed under: Telecommunication — admin @ 1:40 am

Many cell phone users absolutely won’t change mobile phone networks even though by moving to a new one they could save on their monthly bill and benefit from more features and services, such as the ability to make internet calls. A vast amount of their family and friends know their mobile phone number and they can’t be bothered to go through the hassle of switching mobile phone numbers and having to inform everyone what their new number is. If you are having money troubles and would benefit from an easy way of reducing your outgoings, then looking into taking advantage of VoIP is something you should definitely do.

The remarkable thing about apps like Truphone is that they function with a significant range of mobile phones, and enable you to keep your own number as well as giving you a convenient alternative to make cheaper outbound calls. IP Telephony software app that enables mobile users to make VoIP calls and send SMS’s over the internet. The VoIP industry commonly refer to such apps as mobile voip, sip client, mobile sip, internet dialers, voip softphone or sip softphone.

When internet connections weren’t as fast in the early stages of VoIP there was a slower take-up of internet telephony because of the poor sound quality when compared to a regular phone line. This has all changed however as broadband became more widely available and the cost of internet connections have gone down. Redirecting your mobile calls over the internet allows you to save on your phone bills because by routing the calls over the internet it is possible to avoid the fees usually levied by your mobile phone provider for making use of their infrastructure.

Find out How VoIP Calling Can Cut Your Business Expenditure

Filed under: Telecommunication — admin @ 6:39 am

One of the really predictable effects of the current recession is that a growing number of people are looking for ways to cut spending. The telecommunications industry is not immune to this trend and the financial landscape has resulted in a wave of interest in VoIP services.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has garnered a huge level of interest due to the fact that VoIP calls are made via a broadband internet connection at a far lower cost than calls made with a phone connected to a landline. In these belt-tightening times there has been a growing awareness that a large phone bill is not only an unwanted expense but an avoidable one. Cheap VoIP calls are a highly irresistible alternative for users in all sectors of the market.

The rise in popularity of VoIP telephony is particularly striking in the corporate sector. Many VoIP business users have found that their operating costs have been dramatically cut down when they have shifted from the conventional phone system to a VoIP phone system. VoIP service providers provide a substantial cost saving alternative for large and small businesses and can help users remain profitable in a highly competitive marketplace.

The introduction of a voip phone system into a workplace can have positive results on the way that the company operates. One should bear in mind that VoIP systems offer much more than just a way of saving a lot of money. There are many practical benefits also.

A further great plus that some VoIP providers offer with certain plans is free long distance calls and you can also get free features such as caller id, three-way calling, call waiting and voice mail that offer additional value and convenience. If you were using a traditional phone system these kind of advanced features would usually cost extra.

A great many pundits are forecasting that VoIP is truly the telephone of the future. It is seen as extremely likely that the serious advantages that voip phone systems offer will mean that eventually VoIP will supplant the traditional system altogether.

Ways to Use VoIP Technology

Filed under: Telecommunication — admin @ 2:45 am

Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, uses your broadband internet connection to place phone calls. By converting your voice (or analog) signal into a digital signal, this makes for a more efficient way to talk on the phone and can save you money.

There are three ways you can use VoIP. You can either connect using your regular phone and an adapter, a special internet phone, or download software and use your computer. Here are the methods, in greater detail:

Using your home phone. If you would like to switch from your regular phone line to VoIP, many people opt to continue using their home phone. To do this, you must use an analog telephone adapter, or ATA. This device converts the analog signal (your voice) to a digital signal. Once the signal is converted, it goes through the internet connection. When shopping for a service provider, ask them if they include this adapter with their packages. Most do.

Connect using an IP phone. When using a special IP phone, you don’t need a separate ATA. Everything you need to use your broadband internet connection as your telephone service is included with the hardware. Instead of using a regular phone jack and connector, it uses an Ethernet connection to plug into your router.

Connect using your computer. If your computer has speakers, microphone, a sound card, and a high speed internet connection you can use your computer for VoIP. Companies offer free or low cost software downloads which allows you to use your computer to make phone calls. Using this method is either free, costing only the price of your internet connection, or nearly free. Earthlink’s Vling software is both free to download and free to use. The only hitch is that you can only talk with other Vling users.

Voip For Telephone Calls Can Create Huge Savings Each Year to Your Budget

Filed under: Telecommunication — admin @ 3:26 pm

Introduction

Voip services are improving at an alarming rate, quality of sound is now on par with land lines, it is now possible to use your regular phone in conjunction with your voip service. This new technology puts the Voip services where they have not been before.

Advantages of voip are

* Huge cost savings in local, national and international calls

* Free calls to persons using the same provider

* Take your phone service where ever you go world wide (ideal for the traveller)visit Ipez.net for a typical solution for this.

* Ability to use video type conferencing, of course need a web cam and the provider needs to supply this function.

* Some suppliers provide up to 6 - way conferencing

Disadvantages

* You require Internet access

* Quality of call by some providers can be poor

* You may require broadband for some functions such as video conference.

* Maybe stuck to a computer if the provider does not provide a quality solution.

Explanations of the above

There are various solutions to making a call the most common being the soft phone. This is the software that is provided by the provider. The software downloads to your computer; the operator enters their user I.D. and password and enters. They can then make the call using the keyboard or no’s provided on the soft phone by pointing and clicking the mouse.

The more advanced providers provide a hard phone, not that much different to your regular phone only it plugs into your USB port. Ipez provides a device that is much like an mp3 Player it plugs into the USB port and is loaded with the Ipez software. Once detected by the computer the soft-phone loads and you can log in. This is great for the traveller, or person whom uses multiple computers maybe a businessman. The device fits into the palm of your hand and can be taken anywhere. An earpiece and mike, fits in the back for you to communicate to the other end user.

When considering a provider, give lots of consideration to your needs. Research the provider see what they provide and compare with others. Do they provide functions like these below?

Functions

* Videoconference

* Quality hardware

* Sound quality

* Capps and rates

* Are there contracts to consider?

Explanations

Videoconference is not provided by all suppliers do your research if this is a feature you would like. Remember if you do not have a web cam you will need to purchase one, these are quite inexpensive these days.

The quality of the hard phone can make a substantial difference to the sound. Therefore do not compromise here, it’s a one of payment you do not rent it you own it. Take care of the device dropping it or exposing to water and heat will damage the device so keep it in a safe place.

It is important to understand a little about the technology as well for instance the bandwidth that is used. Some only use 12-14 bps (bits per second) others can use 64bps. What does this mean to the user? For 1 if you have limited downloads it can add to this secondly the less bps used the higher quality the call as using less bandwidth.

Check your previous bills to see whether you would benefit from capped calls, or you may prefer to just purchase a small block of airtime until you get used to it. If you make quite a few calls capped may be the better option.

Don’t forget to get your friends to join as most providers give free calls between customers using the same service. E.g. a user of Ipez can call another Ipez user for free. This is a great way to save money you can encourage friends and relatives to join and take advantage of this option.

Finally do your research find a provider that is suitable to your needs dont compromise on quality or you may be disappointed, and start saving on all your calls

Ambitious Plans for Freerunner

Filed under: Buyers + Consumers, Telecommunication, Universe Of Technology — admin @ 5:51 am

It is great news for internet surfers because the UK will soon have a new Wi-Fi network and it is going to be absolutely free of charge. Not only will the users not have to pay directly for the service, they would not even have to bear indirect costs like buying a coffee.

The network has been aptly named as Freerunner and it is being developed by Owen Geddes, who was part of the original team behind the popular The Cloud network.

The interesting part is that the new network is primarily meant for large public areas like school, libraries, and train stations. Although, commercial places like restaurants, coffee shops, and fast food joints can use this WiFi network, they will have the pay for it themselves. The good news for them is that this service will cost about one third of the fees being charged by competing networks.

While speaking on the topic, Geddes, who works in the capacity of CEO for Freerunner, talked about how these Wi-Fi networks started in the year 2002 and instantly created a lot of excitement, but soon they started becoming costly due to financial compulsions. The charges for some of these networks are so high now that they are comparable to entire monthly bills of domestic connections, according to Geddes. Click here for information on the cheapest uk broadband.

NorthStar has helped the venture with funds and the North East part of the UK will be the first region to enjoy this new network. If the first stage is successful, a full rollout can be expected soon afterwards.

VegaStream’s Introduction to VoIP

Filed under: Telecommunication — admin @ 7:35 pm

Internet Telephony is used to describe a service that enables people connected to the public Internet with a suitably equipped PC to have voice conversation; examples of Internet Telephony providers include Skype. VoIP is the generic term for the technology that enables phone calls to be made over networks running the Internet Protocol, be that the public Internet or private IP networks. It is also the term that is used to describe the technology in a business to business context. One could say that the consumer will use Internet Telephony while businesses use VoIP.

Voice over IP (VoIP) converts the analog signals of sound when using a telephone to a digital format for transmission across a data network and then back into analog when it reaches the receiver. In a VoIP network, digitized voice data is highly compressed and carried in packets over an IP network. The phones can be purpose-built devices for the IP network (e.g. SIP phones) or standard everyday analog telephones. VegaStream core product range allows users of existing phones to take advantage of VoIP networks.

What’s all the hype about?

The reason for VoIP’s popularity is a simple matter of physics. You can put more traffic over the same physical network using IP than you can with traditional telephone technology, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) as used by the public switched telephone network (PSTN). This simple law is driving many PSTN network providers to migrate their existing TDM networks; that have served them well since the invention of the telephone, to the new IP technology. BTs 21st Century Network is a classic example of this migration.

With VoIP, IP allows us to use a single high-speed Internet connection for all voice, video, and data communications. This is known as convergence and is one of the primary drivers for corporate interest in the technology. The benefits of convergence are obvious. By using a single data network for all communications, it is possible to reduce overall costs.
Furthermore, the business model for data networks, including the Internet allows the customer to remain permanently connected at a fixed price. Meanwhile, when using traditional PSTN, the meter starts running every time you pick up the phone.
The idea of VoIP communication dates back over 20 years however, a greater interest in the applications of VoIP emerged in the 1990’s, with the growth of the Internet. The Internet made it possible to interconnect every home and every business with a packet-switched data network, this saw a rapid growth in VoIP technology. Today, with broadband connectivity the norm not just in business but also at home and even over the mobile, the platform is set for an explosive growth in VoIP.

VoIP Changing the Way We Communicate

VoIP offers a great deal more than cost savings in telephone calls. VoIP technology allows devices to recognize and communicate with each other as if they were connected over a dedicated wire (like the TDM model). It therefore enables video, instant messaging and data conferencing as well as voice. Furthermore all these communications techniques can be used simultaneously allowing people to share images and information as well as hear each other speak - all on the same call.

VoIP communication therefore allows us to actually change the way we communicate with each other. Communicating over the phone with VoIP will be more immediate, collaborative, visual and cost lest. No wonder the market for VoIP equipment and services is the fastest growing sector in the IT industry.

Formed in 1998, VegaStream is one of the most experienced players in the industrial VoIP market. The company supplies gateway CPE to both traditional telecommunications carriers and the new generation of Internet telephony service providers. VegaStream also serves the enterprise market through a global network of distributors and resellers supported by regional offices in the UK, USA and Australia. VegaStream is a non-listed UK company. Investors include the management team, Pace Micro Technology PLC and MTI Partners.

What The Company Conference Call Is!

Filed under: Telecommunication — admin @ 4:01 am

Many businesses have long used the services of a conference call company to spread their message to the investment community, where investment professionals could hear many firms in several days. To accomodate those who couldn’t travel, the conference call allowed hundreds of analysts to hear a presentation and ask questions in real time.

But access was usually restricted and often involved long-distance toll charges. Occasionally a friendly broker would loan you his access codes, some of which found their way to the Internet. As a result, conferences could be swamped.
The Internet now provides a much more practical venue for the conference call. With its low cost and ability to accomodate many listeners it is now practical to open a conference call to almost anyone (at least to listen). And an increasing number of firms now do.

For example, a recent article in the Wall Street Journal related how companies do this as an efficient way to control the irresponsible babble on the Internet. People posting idle chatter now attract accurate responces from others who have heard the actual story on a conference call. As a result, the irresponsible postings are controlled.

Companies like the ability to make one public statement, and then be free from goverment limitations on how investment information must be released. And individual investors like it too, as access to this information gets them access to information that once only slowly reached the average investor.
Using the Internet has many advantages besides the instantaneous international release that results. It is possible to save the audio files so that the conference call can be accessed later at a more convenient time. Plus it’s possible to edit out meaningless portions of each conference. Naturally, there are some limitations.

If everyone could ask a question, real brawls could result as the conferences became uncontrolled. So most Internet systems limit who can ask a question. An outstanding advantage for the average investor is to witness directly a firm’s management in action. While the information might be the same, an investor gains confidence in management that presents a virtuoso performane over one that is defensive, hesitant, and obfuscative. The details aside, the speed of responce and other items that don’t get incorporated in an analyst’s report can add a lot to one’s understanding.

Previously, a small investor’s only such access might have been at a company’s annual meeting. Several firms have opened to provide investment-related conference-call services in one form or another over the Internet. Some require membership and user fees, but the trend seems to be toward company funding of the low cost service, and free or very low cost access by the public.

Expect that more and more firms will use the services of a conference call company to dissiminate their information to a wider section of the population including investors and employees. You should encourage firms that you are interested in to do so. This form of communication is yet another form of ultimate corporate democracy.

Cornelius Callan is a veteran of the conference call industry. He managed sales and production at a leading conference call company for many years and just recently decided that the internet would be a good place to share his vast pool of knowledge of the business. If you have a question, he usually has the answer. You can visit his website at:http://www.conference-call-network.info
